Try not take it personally if slip-ups occur, talk to your captains who will take concerns to the referees of what to watch out for.
Thank you in advance for respecting our volunteer referees and, fellow players in your conduct and speech. Use any frustration energy towards helping, not hurting your team.

Players also acknowledge that play is at one's own risk and any damage done to rec center property is the offending parties responsibility.

Game Rules

1. The Minimum Players To Start A Game On Time is 5 players or 4 and a goalie. Failure to do so by the end of the 5 minute warm up results in a goal being awarded to the ready team, still not enough players at the 10 minute mark and the game is forfeit at a score equal to the number of players registered for the ready team to zero.

2. Game Times are 30 minutes back to back including a five-minute warm/change over. If both teams and the referee are ready before this initial five minutes is up and all agree then the game may be started early. If we get behind schedule the warm up time will be cut in half or skipped altogether if all agree a warm up is not needed.

3. Face-Offs happen at Center Court after each goal is scored by ball drop.

4. 5 and 5 Rule – If play is blown down the team not controlling or awarded ball possession must give five feet and five seconds before moving to play ball.
i.e. After goalie covers the ball. The five second 5 and 5 rule starts after he plays the ball to a teammate on either side of the net behind the goal line.

5. Crease Rules, Goalie Interference and Covering the Puck
a) If a player makes deliberate contact, and interferes with a goalie within the crease and a goal is scored, the goal shall not count. If no goal is scored the offending player receives a penalty for Goalie Interference and his team plays short handed for 90 seconds or until a goal is scored, whichever comes first.

b) If an opposing player is pushed into the other teams goalie by the defending player there is no penalty and if a goal is scored on the play it is counted as such.

c) If goalie interference results in injury to the goalie the offending player receives a major penalty for Goalie Interference and his team plays short handed for a full 3 minutes regardless of whether his team is scored upon.

d) A player may not cover the puck with his hands within his own goalie’s crease, if after a warning he continues to do so it will result in a penalty shot awarded to the other team.

6. A Glove Hand Pass is allowed in your own half of the court. In the other teams half if touched first by the offending team it results in loss of ball possession.

7. High Sticking the Ball is above the shoulders in play, and above the cross bar on a goal. When touched by the offending team first after a high stick, the ball possession is awarded to the non-offending team.

8. Ball Possession is awarded behind the net when in the defending zone and along the wall anywhere else on the court in line with where the infraction occurred.

9. STICK INFRACTIONS:

Minor slashing, hooking, tripping, cross checking and high sticking infractions are first given a warning, unless it is a repeat offence or impedes a scoring chance then it is a 90 second penalty.

Major slashing, hooking, tripping, cross checking and high sticking infractions result in an automatic 90 second penalty minimum or Penalty Shot if player was on a clear breakaway.

10. BODY CONTACT INFRACTIONS:

There is no body checking allowed, incidental contact can happen but players must clearly attempt to play the ball first or the team of player hit first is awarded ball possession. Repeat offense after warning 90 sec, Major check, full 3 minute penalty.

11. FIGHTING OR INTENT TO INJURE:

The result is a Tournament Ejection and the offending team plays short handed for 5 minutes regardless of how many goals are scored.

Note: Offsetting penalties both teams play full strength.

12. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT & ABUSE OF OFFICALS:
After one kind reminder that this is for fun and the referees are volunteers, there will be zero toleration for repeat offenders resulting in an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty and your team playing short handed for 90 seconds.
