Ducks vs Coyotes

The Coyotes came out strong to take an early 3 – 0 lead in Game 1 led by Jon Macaiver’s hard fought game opener. It was the Ducks second goal by Terry U-ming, a quick shot off a pass from the face off after the Ducks first goal by Adam Dejong that began to deflate the Coyotes confidence and momentum. The score was 4 - 3 for the Coyotes at one point in a long hard fought game and then dangling Dan Galpin tied it up with his second in a row.

With only five players Galpin, Dejong, Peters, U-Ming and Shobridge, they got a lot of floor time and were able to get a good flow going. At 4 - 4 Hetherington made a good diving stop on Collin Peters who had walked in all alone on more than one occasion, but with no one to pick up the close rebound here, it was an easy goal for Peters. Ducks did a good job of knocking the Coyotes off their game, though an alleged 'goosing' and 'psychological mind game' used by one Ducks player in particular is under investigation. On behalf of the Coyotes to the offending player I say, “We forgive, but we won’t forget.”

In Game 2 the Ducks felled the Coyotes 6 - 2 with many unobstructed shots, on this night, easily getting past their opponents. And finding the back of net far too often for the comfort of this writer but they played it well.

Adam Galpin held his own in goal and gloated over an easier time with it as the Coyotes failed to set up the screen play. Hetherington had an on and off night between the pipes; he was fired upon from all angles , here you can Find the link to the background and an update on his shoulder injury.

Marcus Schmalling summed up the night for the Coyotes saying, “It was a team loss.” The Ducks bench erupted in victorious cheers after the nights deciding goal, they are definitely on a roll with their eyes on the prize.

Ducks MVP is Dan Galpin with 4 goals and 3 assists.

Coyotes MVP is Jon Macaiver for the nights opening goal, and the hardest two way
play on the night.

Stars vs Sharks

(awaiting contributing game summary)

It was a close hard fought Game 1 with Andrew Buller and Mark Steunenberg connecting for 4 points each in a tough Sharks 6 to the Stars 5 loss. With a shortened bench the Stars weren’t able to neutralize Kevin Lim as the Ducks and the Coyotes had in done their previous matches.

Unassisted, Travis Geunther opened the scoring for the Sharks and Kevin Lim closed it with their final two goals of the game.

Looks like a good all around team effort in Game 2 powered the Sharks to a more convincing 6 – 3 win.

Stars MVPs Mark Steunenberg and Andrew Buller

Sharks MVP's Kevin Lim and Cody Funston

Next week the Sharks are poised to take a bite out of the already limping Coyotes and the undefeated Ducks look to an easier game of capturing their finals spot and putting the Stars season to bed. Ah, but as Mike Giesbrecht Captain of the Coyotes said, “Our fate is in our hands.”

And this is true for each team, is it not?
