Stars vs Sharks

Once again the Stars take Game 1 fighting back from a Sharks early lead scoring four unanswered goals to win 6 -3 with the help of Mark “The Sniper” Steunenberg being back in four-goal game form. And once again Funston, Lim, Eisenhauer and the rest of the Sharks bit back hard, this time with a 6 – 1 win in Game 2 forcing the series deciding first team to three goals, Game 3.

The night ended with a 3 -2 third game grimace for brothers Bryan and Mike Lim. Once again the night was decided by their brother Kevin a.k.a. ‘The eLIMinator’ who scored the first two goals unassisted. Theo Bouwesma scored the heroes goal to win the night, assisting on the play was… Kevin Lim.

MVP honours for the Stars go out to Mark Steunenberg with 5 goals on the night.

MVP honours for the Sharks go out to Kevin Lim with 6 goals and 1 assist.

Ducks vs Coyotes

The Ducks came out a little stronger than the Coyotes in Game 1 and took it by a score of 6 – 4 with three goals apiece for Adam Dejong and Dan Galpin. Game 2 was another story as the Coyotes took control with a commanding 5 – 1 lead before Dave Snowden ended it at 6 – 2. Marcus Schmalling contributed a natural hat trick and went all out with two-way play including a spectacular diving back check to take a scoring chance away from Dan Galpin.

Here the 3rd Game grimace belonged to those in company with Adam Dejong, and Stephen Ho, who made an excellent double deke move to tie the game at 2 -2. The Coyotes had been up 2 – 1 for a good while with a pair from Scott Stanley, and then Dave Snowden became the hero of the night firing home a low drifter from the point past a well screened Adam Galpin who was back in net for the Ducks.

Ducks MVP honors for the night are shared between Adam Dejong with 4 goals and Dan Galpin with 3 including the Game 1 winner.

Coyotes MVP honours for the night are shared between Dave Snowden with three goals, including two game winners and an assist and Scott Stanley with two goals and two assists.

See you next Tuesday night for the Stars vs Coyotes games at QM and the Sharks vs Ducks games at Larson.

NOTE: The Sharks are ahead by two points but they've played two more games than the Coyotes, and both have lost 10 games a piece. The goals for and against are oh so close but in the Coyotes favour. With four to six games left in the season, this could be a close finish for first place.
